Jagannath University is a prominent public university in Bangladesh, located in the southern part of Dhaka, near the Buriganga River. As a government-financed, full-fledged public institution, it has a rich history of over 156 years, beginning in 1858 with the founding of Dhaka Brahma School by notable figures such as Dinanath Sen, Prabhaticharan Roy, Anathbandhu Mallik, and Brajasundar Kaitra. In 1872, Kishorilal Chowdhury, the Zamindar of Baliadi, renamed the school to Jagannath School in honor of his father.agannath University has evolved significantly over the years. In 1884, it became a second-grade college, and law was one of the first courses offered. The school and college sections were separated in 1887, with the school section forming the independent Kishore Jubilee School, now known as K L Jubilee School. By 1907, the college’s administration was transferred to a board of trustees, and in 1908, it was elevated to a first-grade college.Today, Jagannath University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields, including law, arts, science, and social sciences.
