Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur (DUET) is a premier public engineering university in Bangladesh, known for its high-quality education and research in the field of engineering and technology. Established in 1980 as the College of Engineering, Dhaka, DUET began with the motto "Technology is the Advancement" and initially offered Bachelor of Engineering programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines at its temporary campus in Tejgaon, Dhaka.In 1981, the institution was renamed Dhaka Engineering College (DEC) and became a part of the University of Dhaka, offering undergraduate engineering degrees. Over the years, DEC gained increased autonomy under the Bangladesh Institute of Technology Ordinance no. XXI of 1986, becoming Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Dhaka (BITD). A historic milestone occurred on September 1, 2003, when BITD became an autonomous statutory organization under the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Gazipur Act 2003, thus officially becoming Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology, Gazipur (DUET).
